Below you will find some hany hints to help you to engage more effectively with any young people you come into contact with both on a professional and personal level.

1) Language (please use language that can be understood by young people e.g. jargon, big words and acronyms confuse young people).
2) Be non-judgemental (please don’t judge young people because of there age or background.
3) Be friendly.
4) Listen carefully.
5) Body Language (make eye contact and use an open posture).
6) Room Layout (be aware of the layout in your room e.g. remove barriers such as desks or other items that may obstruct young peoples view).
7) Be approachable (young people are already intimidated by professional people in suits therefore really make the effort to be approachable).
8) Equal Opportunities (be aware of young peoples individual needs e.g. young people with disabilities).
9) Evaluation (ask young people their views to gain feedback on the services you offer).
10) CUSTOMER SERVICE (if good customer service is given then all the above points will be met).
